An email to Rep. Mel Watt

Rep. Watt, could you respond to the remarks made by Rep. Carson of Indiana -

"Some of them in Congress right now of this Tea Party movement would love to see you and me hanging on a tree. Some of them in Congress are comfortable with where we were 50 or 60 years ago. But this is a new day with a black President and the Congessional Black Caucus."

Many of your constituents would like to hear your thoughts on this SERIOUS issue!

Eric Love (or maybe it was Adam Hall) from Rep. Mel Watt's office just called in response to the email I sent last week. He confirmed that I had been blocked from posting comments/questions to the Congressman's Facebook page. Their reason for blocking me was "We felt like you were campaigning on the Congressmans Facebook page" and "because you're running against him in the next election, we didn't feel it was appropriate".

They're partly right, I was campaigning on his page, but, I was also asking legitimate questions. Questions that, as a constituent, I have EVERY RIGHT TO ASK!!

An email to Rep. Mel Watt:

Rep. Watt,

I’m sure it was just an accident, but, I’ve been removed from the list of your constituents that “Like” you on Facebook. I posted a couple of comments/questions on your page yesterday and this morning all of my posts (yesterdays AND earlier posts) were deleted.

Even after I “Liked” your page again this morning, my ability to post, comment on other posts or send you a direct message within Facebook have been blocked.

I’m sure this was just an accident, but if you, Barbara J. Carter (District Liaison), Judy Chute (Staff Assistant), Regina Ford (District Liaison), Lakecia N. Foster (Legislative Assistant), Eulice B. Garrett (Shared Employee), Alyssa J. Gowens (Legislative Counsel), Adam N. Hall (District Liaison), Kendra Harvey (Staff Assistant), Laura B. Hooper (Senior Legislative Assistant), Torre J. Jessup (District Director), Keith B. Kelly (Administrative Assistant), Eric A. Love (Legislative Assistant), Ellen Danielle Owen (Chief of Staff), Angelia B. Shackelford (District Liaison), Tamara M. Stinson (District Communications Coordinator), Cora A. Thompson (Shared Employee), Dominique B. Tillman (District Liaison), Hillary C. West (Legislative Counsel) or Tawana Wilson-Allen (District Liaison) would be willing to look into this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I thank you and your staff for helping me with this matter.

Congress started a two week recess last Friday afternoon...do any of you get two weeks off for Easter?! How many of you think two weeks is a bit much in the midst of financial crisis? The U.S. will reach it's credit limit sometime in May (as in less than a month!!). The debates about wether or not to raise the debt ceiling will be insane (and entertaining so I'll be watching).

LAST MONTH Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) said the federal government should provide an Apple IPad to every student in America!!!...LAST WEEK the same Jesse Jackson Jr. said the iPad is responsible for thousands of lost jobs! He blames the iPads ability to download books for the loss of bookstore jobs.
